Dual Credit

*NEW* Angelo State University Announces Participation in the FAST Program

In August of 2023, Angelo State University announced they would be participating in the FAST (Financial Aid for Swift Transfer) program.  The FAST program allows qualifying students at public high schools to take dual credit courses at no cost (this includes tuition, course fees, and textbooks).

If you have any questions about this new program and what it means for your student, please contact the FHS counselors or Nicholas Copeland, Coordinator of Advanced Academics. ([email protected])

DUAL CREDIT REMIND

Are you currently taking a Dual Credit Course, or will be taking one next year?  Please join our Dual Credit Remind Group so that important information and updates will be sent directly to your cell phone.

DUAL CREDIT PARENT MEETINGS
There will be a required meeting for parents whose children are considering taking dual credit courses for the first time next year.  Dual credit courses are offered at Frenship High School through Angelo State University and allow students the opportunity to earn college credit while taking high school courses and college courses simultaneously. Dates for the Parent Meeting will be announced in the Fall.
  • The cost for dual credit courses in 2024-2025 will be $50.00 per credit hour - $150.00 for a 3-hour course, $200.00 for a 4-hour course (sciences and some foreign languages).
  • Students identified as Economically Disadvantaged will be able to take 1 course free of charge per semester.
  • The ASU Dual Credit Application for Fall 2023 is now open. Please use this link to apply: FALL 2024 DUAL CREDIT APPLICATION
  • Only students that have not been previously accepted into the Dual Credit program need to apply.  In the process of the application, the student will agree to the terms of the dual credit program.
  • A few days after you apply, your parent or guardian will receive an email from Angelo State.  This email contains the portion of the Dual Credit Agreement form that they will need to complete electronically and return directly to ASU.  Again, this is only for students not previously accepted into the Dual Credit program.
  • TSIA2 Compliance- You must attempt at least one section of the TSIA2 to be eligible for non-restricted dual credit courses.  If you attempted but did not pass a section of the TSIA2 last year (2021-2022 school year), you must attempt again this year to take dual credit courses in 2022-2023. See your counselor or Ms. Morris for test deadlines.
    • ENGL 1301/1302, ENGL 2321/2326 - you must pass the ELAR section (or be compliant based on SAT/ACT scores).
    • MATH 1314 - you must pass the MATH section (or be compliant based on SAT/ACT scores).
    • To sign up for a TSIA2 test session at FHS, click on the TSI at Frenship High School tab on the right side of this page (current 10th & 11th grade students) or the TSI at Ninth Grade Center (current 9th grade students).
    • **Note - You CAN sign up for a TSIA2 test session before you complete the ASU application.
  • FHS will send your transcript to ASU once you have applied.  There is no need for you to request it to be sent.
