STATE UIL SPIRIT CHAMPIONSHIP

UIL SPIRIT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Spirit State Championships OVERVIEW
Spirit is an extracurricular activity that focuses on the traditional game day role cheerleaders have on the sidelines and in schools supporting athletic teams. At the UIL Spirit State Championships, schools will compete in three categories: crowd leading, fight song, and band dance.

GAME DAY FORMAT—PRELIMINARY ROUND Each team will showcase its best sideline and crowd-leading material in the following categories: Fight Song, Band Chant and Crowd Leading. The use of crowd-leading tools such as signs, poms, flags and/or megaphones is encouraged. Sideline practicality should be highest priority in routine development.

GAME DAY FINALS FORMAT Finalists will be determined by preliminary round scores, which do not carry over into the final round. Each FINALIST will showcase its best leadership skills and sideline crowd-leading material in Game Day presentation that will include an announcer-led situational cue describing a game day element. The use of crowd-leading tools such as signs, poms, flags and/or megaphones is encouraged. Sideline practicality and effective leadership should be considered in all elements.
Frenship Cheer RESULTS

IT'S A V-I-C-T-O-R-Y FOR THE FHS UIL CHEER TEAM

In 2017 we made our first appearance at the UIL Spirit State Championship. We competed against 183 6A schools (no divisions were set this year) and finished overall 25th in the State of Texas. This was only the 2nd year for UIL to open up this event, and our first year to compete. We were so proud to be one of the top schools and can't wait to go back and make finals!

In 2018 we went back to the UIL Spirit State Championship, in the 6A- Div 2 group, and had one goal- to make the finals. Not only did we make finals, but Frenship High School got 4th in the State of Texas! Only missing 1st by less than a tenth of a point. This team did not come to play! WE set a goal and exceeded all expectation!

In 2019 we made our 3rd appearance at the UIL Spirit State Championship, but this year we were in the biggest division of the entire competition. We competed against 72 Large 6A Div 1 Schools and made top 20 State Finals! The competition was FIERCE, and we knew we had to FIGHT to make finals. Overall, we ended it up being 14th in the State of Texas and we are so proud! We left it all on the mat and can't wait to go back next year!

In 2020 the Frenship Cheerleaders headed to their fourth state appearance at the UIL Spirit State Championship. After a weekend of fierce competition, the Frenship High School Cheerleaders came up just a few points short of making finals. The squad competed against 70 6A- Div 1. Division one schools have a student enrollment of 2,750 students or more, putting Frenship High School right at the cutoff for the largest group of competitors. We are so proud of how they performed, as well as how they represented Frenship High School and Frenship ISD.

In 2021(the year of COVID) the Frenship Cheerleaders came back with vengeance, ready to make finals in the 6A-Div 2 category.  Although the competition looked VERY different this year, we were so blessed that our District allowed us to compete and compete we did!! This cheer team had the goal to go back and make Finals. They worked harder than any team prior, and never once gave up. Our prelims had some bumps, but we made top 20 and were able to go back and leave it all on the mat. This team performed FLAWLESSLY, and we walked away being on of the TOP 10 TEAMS in the STATE OF TEXAS. We placed #9 overall.

In 2022 the Frenship Cheerleaders headed to their sixth state appearance at the UIL Spirit State Championship. This team worked diligently as a team and as a family. We implemented early morning workouts and boy did this pay off. Frenship Cheer went again 60 D2 schools, and after a Rockstar performance in the prelims, they made TOP 5 and were headed to finals!! We had two hours from the time it was announced to the time we competed to go over score sheets, make adjustments and get our minds right to head in that arena for finals. This team went out there and left it ALL on the mat! We walked away with a routine that hit zero and no matter where we landed in finals, we were proud of what we just did. For the second year in a row, Frenship Cheer made TOP 10, finishing at 9th in the State of Texas. WE set a goal, to make finals- and we did just that!! The coaches are so proud of everything this team accomplished and everything they left in Fort Worth. the work for next year has already started, and we can't wait to go back and be a threepeat 6A state finalists!

In 2023 the Frenship Cheerleaders headed to their seventh state appearance at the UIL Spirit State Championship. This year we were moved up to largest and hardest Division in the competition. We implemented even more early morning practices and even set time to practice over the holiday break. This team had a vision, a goal and we decided early on, we would make finals and make our school proud! Frenship competed against 81 Division 1 large 6A schools, and did exactly what they set out to do, MADE FINALS! After one of the hardest competitions and teams we have ever seen at UIL, Frenship ended up placing 19th in the State of Texas! The coaches could not be prouder of this team, as they set their goals high and came home being top 20 in the State! WE ARE A HUGE STATE, y'all!! We can't wait to go back and continue to make our mark in the 6A world!

In 2024 Frenship Cheer traveled to Fort Worth to compete in the 2024 UIL Spirit State Championship. For the first time in school history Frenship competed in the Coed division. While we lacked experience in this division, we did know that we were going against very talented competition including the 5x State champion.

For the first time in school history, Frenship Cheer won a State Title for BEST BAND CHANT.

In the finals Frenship earned an 8th place finish and scored higher than the 5x defending state champion!

On our first day of practice, we set some very lofty goals. We wanted to make finals, make the top 10, defeat the defending state champs, win a state award, represent Frenship with pride and great character, and come home leaving our mark in the COED Division. We can check all those goals as accomplished.

Congratulations, Frenship Cheer! We are proud of each of these student-athletes.
