Frenship High School

Pre-Calculus

Course Description

What is PreCalculus?

Pre-Calculus is exactly what the name implies – a course that was designed to prepare you for Calculus.  We will do a lot of Algebra (it will feel like Algebra II on steroids a times J).  We will do a little bit of Geometry (trig ratios, right triangles – nothing terrible).  We will do some application problems.  My goal is to prepare you for whichever college level course you decide to take next year.

Is this class hard?

The teacher answer to this question is, “This class is as hard or as easy as you make it.”  That is true – to an extent.  Are there easier math classes that you could take this year?  Yes.  Are there harder math classes that you could take this year?  Yes.  The majority of you are in this class because you are a “year ahead” in math and this is the next logical step – most likely you weren’t in to taking AP or dual credit this year, but still need a math.  Either way, you are 100% where you need to be.

The bottom line – I love math.  I want you to love this course and math also.  I want you to WANT to take Calculus, College Algebra, or Stats next year.  We will work hard EVERY DAY, but we will also have a lot of fun along the way.
