Volleyball Finishes Historic Season

The Frenship Tiger Volleyball team saw their season come to an end in the Bi-District round of the playoffs at the hands of the El Paso Montwood Rams. The Tigers entered the contest 33-8 (9-1) on the season and having secured Frenship’s first district championship since 2013 and their first since moving up to 6A.

The Tigers and Rams met once previously this season at the Frenship Tournament and the Tigers were victorious in two sets. This time the Rams proved a more formidable opponent and defeated the Tigers in four sets, 27-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-10. The Tigers saw three players earn Lone Star Varsity Player of the Week honors this season, Gracie Harrison, Kayton Genenbacher, and Aali Mayfield all took home the award and will be invited to the end-of-year Lone Star Varsity Awards Banquet.

The future is bright for Head Coach Randi Trew and Tiger Volleyball, who will bid farewell to three seniors, Aali Mayfield, Emma Davila, and student trainer Lynsey Rogers, but have a strong squad returning in Fall 2020. The Tigers look to one JV squad, coached by Whitney Lusk, who went undefeated on the season, placed at the Frenship Tournament, and won the Lamesa Tournament as well.
