Frenship High School

Lady Tiger Soccer Remains Undefeated

The Tigers opened their season with a tournament championship in the West Texas Freeze at West Texas A&M University and now have tested themselves further with a trip to Georgetown, TX to participate in the Governor’s Cup January 9-11.

The Tigers (5-0-2) opened play against Vista Ridge, winning 4-0 with goals by Isela Martinez, Carmen Cervantez, Katelin Heise, and Alyson Dankesreiter. Alli Holder, Isela Martinez, Aras King, and Alexis Gonzalez all notched assists in that match as well. The Tigers then faced a tough Austin Vandegrift team and ended in a 1-1 tie. The Tigers’ lone goal came from Lone Star Varsity Female Athlete of the Week recipient Alli Holder off a 25-yard free-kick.

Frenship’s final match of the tournament was against Klein Oak, both teams gutted out an exceptional effort in the cold and windy portion of a weekend that saw snow and rain throughout the tournament. The Tigers remained undefeated with another tie, this time 0-0.

Lady Tiger Soccer will return to action in tournament play in Amarillo January 23-25.
