Holloway said it was humbling when he found out that he would be receiving this honor, and that it is things like this that remind him how rewarding his job is.

“It lets me know that I’m doing my job,” Holloway said. “This is probably one of the best jobs in the world. It’s just overall rewarding – I don’t know how else to put it.”

Holloway said that he has come to learn that the value of his classes is limitless, and that not only is he teaching his students about physics and engineering, but also about life skills and things they can take with them after high school.

“We are talking about money management, we’re talking about how to budget, we’re talking about how to fund raise,” Holloway said. “I wanted that to be a foundation of this entire program, so that they take away more than just engineering skills.”

Holloway selected The Boy Scouts of America as the nonprofit organization that will also receive $500. Holloway said he is very active with his son in Troop 157, where he gets to teach those scouts as well, using his talents to better even more kids in the community.

“I get to go and share not only what I am doing here in class, but build those relationships with them as well,” Holloway said “and give them that foundation as they’re about to venture off into life.”

Nathan Baie Boy Scouts of America South Plains Council Scout Executive and CEO said the scouts will benefit greatly from this generous donation to be able to continue providing additional equipment and supplies for the scouts to learn from.

“The partnership and the benefit that we have with volunteers like Mr. Holloway are invaluable.”
