Frenship FFA Members Compete, Learn at State Convention

While at the convention, members participated in being voting delegates for the state, listened to inspirational speeches from state FFA officers, competed in the Agriscience Fair State Contest, and received some prestigious awards

Eight Frenship FFA members received their Lone Star Degree. As a member of the Texas FFA, the Lone Star is the highest degree that a member can receive at the state level. The Lone Star Degree is awarded out of gratitude towards the recipient’s hard work and dedication throughout their three years in an agriculture course.

The eight FHS students that received this award were Casen Slayton, Kolton Eleuterius, Devan Thompson, Weston Brown, Kyler Kilcrease, Hunter White, (not pictured Allie Holder and Gabrielle Louis.)

Additionally, Braxton Holder was recognized for receiving a $20,000 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship. 

Four students competed in the Agriscience Fair State Contest. Kaitlyn Heilman in the Plant Systems Category, Division 3 who placed 2nd, team Leah Underwood and Ava Hays in the Food Products and Processing Systems category, Division 4 placed 4th, and Jacie Onsurez in the Social Systems category, Division 3 placed 5th. 

Lastly, Ava Hays, Cayden Hodnett, Aniaya Deleon, Cassidy Caraway, Kaitlyn Heilman and Jacie Onsurez served on the Courtesy Corp for State Convention.
