Frenship High School Varsity Choir Named 2022 TMEA Invited Choir

The application process began a few years ago to begin the rigorous process of competing to become an Invited Choir.

“To be considered for this honor, performing groups must submit recordings of live performances that have occurred over a three-year period along with a proposed concert program,” Frenship High School Choir Director Amy Moss said. “The recordings then undergo three rounds of blind auditions for a panel of judges.”

Moss said that the Varsity Chorale was selected based on the rankings of submitted material and because of the teamwork and culmination of many years of hard work they have put into becoming an Invited Choir.

“To be invited to TMEA as a featured ensemble is a rare experience,” Moss said. “Once a Choir program has achieved being named an invited ensemble, the Choir program must wait three years before being able to apply again.”

Moss said that the Frenship choir program is so excited to have the chance to be a part of this amazing opportunity.

“We are tremendously proud of the work our students do on a regular basis to reach such heights,” Moss said. “We are especially thankful to our graduating classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021 for laying the foundation to be selected for this achievement.”

Moss said the Varsity Chorale will have the opportunity to perform in a featured concert at the TMEA convention in San Antonio, TX on February 9-12, 2022, for a statewide audience of thousands and that she is planning a local concert for those that are unable to travel to the convention.
