Frenship Girls Basketball Kicks Off Season Tonight

Frenship Girls Basketball Head Coach Trent Hilliard said they are ready to get things started tonight.

"Canyon Randall will be athletic," Hilliard said. "We got to see them a little bit at our scrimmage in Amarillo last Saturday and know how hard they play. These first games are really more about doing what we do and finding out what our team and individual strengths and weaknesses will be as we prepare for district play that starts in December."

Hilliard said that his team has their focus set on finishing the regular season with a district championship again this year.

"Our motto for this year is Worth the 6rind," Hilliard said. "We are striving for our sixth consecutive district championship and 20th consecutive playoff appearance."

Hilliard said he believes his team is stacked this year and is expecting excellence on the court.

"We have seven returning players this season, four of which were starters, Addison McClure, Elena Noyola, Abby Boyce and Abbi Holder," Hilliard said. "Other returners are Mikah Chapman, Zaria Fowler, and Abbi Watson. We have five seniors on the team this year, along with three juniors, and three sophomores."

Hilliard said his team and coaching staff can't wait to get the "ball rolling" on a great season.

"We are really excited for a normal year, and are looking forward to having our students back at games after COVID kept many away last year," Hilliard said. "Our team has a chance to be better than last years team with more experience, but we will have to continue to focus on the fundamentals and strive to get better daily if we want to meet our expectations for the season."
