Frenship Boys Soccer

With 25 returning Frenship Boys Varsity Soccer players, the Tigers are ready for the season to get going.

Frenship Boys Soccer Head Coach Scott Smith said he and his athletes are looking forward to another successful season.

"We think the hard work has been done, it's now time to play and adapt to the schedule as we go," Smith said. "Essentially we’re in year two with this group. We’ve grown a lot together over the past couple of years."

Smith said his teams focus this year is simple - taking things game-by-game.

"We really want to try to make sure we stay fit and healthy, as our schedule puts a game every two days," Smith said. "We believe we can be very successful in district and go far into the playoffs this season."

Smith explained that his teams motto this year is "Write Your Legacy," essentially saying that individuals are the masters of their own fate.

"I am looking forward to coaching, managing, and leading our team in my fifth year at FHS," Smith said. "Attitudes have already been amazing this year. Let's go, Tigers!"

Frenship Girls Soccer

Frenship Girls Soccer has 11 returning varsity players this year, making more than half of the 23 person team new to the varsity level.

Frenship Girls Soccer Head Coach Lauren Denning said even though there will be a lot of youth on the team, the newbies are ready to make their mark as a Varsity Tiger soccer player.

"The new ones are bringing a lot of good energy and excitement and the returners are bringing experience and high expectations," Denning explained.

The focus for the girls this year is to control what can be controlled.

"We always want to focus on the process of getting better every day," Denning said. "We want to focus on the preparation and the results will follow. Prepare well and the results usually reflect that."

Denning said the teams motto this year is "Effort Over Excuses," explaining that the girls came up with it while discussing goals earlier this fall.

"Excuses are easy and can come often," Denning said. "Effort is difficult, but it is completely in our control. Focusing on effort over all those possible excuses should keep us going in the right direction every day in practice and during game days."

Denning said she is excited to coach such a fun, hardworking group of girls.

"We’ve got talented girls that work hard and have fun playing soccer together," Denning said. "Come out, dress warm, and cheer loud! Looking forward to a great season!"
