Congratulations to Frenship High School Band members Ava Monico, Ryder Day and Christopher Sedberry on being selected for the 2022 Texas All-State Band.
Throughout the semester, students learn and practice three difficult etudes to audition for panel of judges who then rank each instrument. A select group of musicians advance to compete against musicians from other Regions in their Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of the Texas All-State Band or Orchestra ensembles.
Frenship High School had a total of 125 students audition at the Region 16 contest and and had 91 students make one of the three all-region bands. Out of the 91 students that made an all-region band, Frenship had 50 students place high enough to advance to the TMEA Area auditions, including 3 students who made the TMEA All-State band.
Ava Monico, 12th grade – Flute (2nd time making the all-state band)
Ryder Day, 9th grade – Piccolo
Christopher Sedberry, 12th grade – Bass Trombone
“We are all extremely proud of all the students that have participated in this All-State process whether they made the All-State group or not,” said Ryan Smith, Director of Bands at Frenship. “The process of learning this difficult music makes them better musicians. It is inspiring to see the success of these three band students.”
