Frenship Basketball Teams Dominate at Home Against Abilene High

Girls Basketball

The Tigers started off strong last Friday night against Abilene High after their first District 2-6A loss the previous week to Midland Legacy.

Frenship quickly got the game started when Abby Boyce started her 16-point overall scoring streak with eight points in the first quarter. This trend would stay consistent for the Tigers, as they never let up, winning the game 92-30.

"It was a great team effort," Frenship Girls Basketball Head Coach Trent Hilliard said. "We had six kids in double figures, three of those recording double-doubles."

The three athletes claiming double-doubles were Abbi Holder with 12 points and 10 assists, Zaria Fowler with 12 points and 10 assists, and Abby Boyce with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

"It’s nice to have a break to refocus and get ready for this last run through district and the playoffs," Hilliard said.  "The basketball season is a grind, so a break in the routine can definitely be a good thing."

The Tigers will be back on the court on Friday, February 4 in Odessa as they take on the Bronchos at Odessa High.

Frenship.TV will have the game live HERE with Chois Woodman with the call on Double T 97.3.

Last Friday evening, the Tigers tightened their grip on first place in District 2-6A when they defeated Abilene High, 80-30.

"It was an awesome night at the Tiger Pit and it was good to see how our guys responded to playing against a team that we previously won against with a wide margin," Frenship Boys Basketball Head Coach Paul Page said. "It was obviously that they did not overlook Abilene High and came ready to play and competed at the high level that we are used to."

Frenship's Jamarion Phenix led with 14 points, Tate Beeles had 13 points and Tracy Godfrey had 12 points and 4 rebounds.

"It will be a very pivotal game for us at Odessa High on Friday," Page explained. "We must maintain our focus and be mature about our preparation as Odessa High will be looking to stay in reach of winning a district championship."

The Tigers took last Tuesday night off, but will head to Odessa High to take on the Bronchos tonight at 7:30. Frenship.TV will have the game live HERE with Chois Woodman on the call on Double T 97.3.
