Frenship High School Hosts CTE Job Shadow Day

This year's CTE Job Shadow was extremely successful, as all twenty of the FHS students that applied were able to connect with a professional in their field of interest. After submitting an application with their desired career and a ranked preferences list of where to be assigned, students were partnered with industry professionals for a day of shadowing.

One student was connected with two Biomedical Engineers, one being a Frenship graduate. Twelve students shadowed in clinics and medical settings including a physical therapy provider, a plastic surgeon, and the Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic. We sent two students interested in early education to the YWCA and another shadowed with Wolfforth’s Chief of Police.

The Job Shadow Day is an incredibly valuable opportunity for students. It affords them an opportunity to get a real-world taste of their potential profession to help them make more informed decisions. It also provides them with a contact in their industry as they begin building relationships.

“Frenship wouldn’t be as successful as we are without a supportive community,” said Keith Patrick, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Frenship ISD.

“As I reached out to our job shadow hosts it was immediately apparent how willing and open the employers are. They provide opportunities and perspectives to high school students that are eager to learn about their industries of choice and what they may be doing in their future. The hosts make this day special and I’m extremely appreciative of them for their willingness to host our students.”
