Frenship Softball Prepares to Finish Out District

The Tigers took on Midland Legacy in their second match up of the season on Friday, April 8 at Frenship High School.

The Lady Rebels didn't stand a chance, as Frenship took the field with a vengeance, looking to hold onto their undefeated District 2-6A title and get Coach Robby Dickenson his 600th career win.

"Legacy was a shut out," said Dickenson. "We beat them 10-0 on a run rule. Kynlee Bolin got the win and pitched very well with nine strikeouts, only giving up three hits."

Sydney Bolin had three hits in the game against Midland Legacy, with Makayla Garcia, Maddie Stewart, Abbey Tarr, and Erin Boles all following with two hits a piece.

"Any District win is big as our District is very competitive and there is never an 'easy' game," Dickenson said. "My 600 win milestone did not come easy, a lot of blood sweat and tears by my, my assistant coaches, and my players made it possible."

Dickenson started his coaching career back in 1997 in Coahoma, where he had a strong run of five state tournament appearances and one state championship. Before becoming a Frenship Tiger, Dickenson coached in Brownwood and Snyder.

"This is my 16th year at Frenship," Dickenson said. "The skill level has increased tremendously through the years, but I have come to the conclusion that I can learn as much about life, team work, and setting goals from the players on my team each year. I try to convey and teach the same concepts to the wonderful young ladies who currently play for me and have played for me in the past."

The Tigers faced off against Abilene High on Tuesday, April 12, getting their first District 2-6A loss, 0-9.

"The good things is we are still in first place in the District and can control our destiny in pursuit of the District Championship with two games left," Dickenson said.

The Tigers will take on Coahoma on Friday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Frenship High School. Tickets are available HERE.

They will continue District 2-6A play on Tuesday, April 19 against Odessa High for Senior Night at home.
