Frenship High School

Frenship Students Hit the Dance Floor at the Heart of Frenship Prom

The Heart of Frenship Prom is an event put on every year to celebrate the life skills, special education and academic adjustment students of Frenship High School. Groups like- Frenship Cheer, Unified track, NHS, Mrs. Powell's PHT and medical assisting students sign up to decorate, work it and come and enjoy the prom as well

This year’s Heart of Frenship Prom was the biggest and best one so far. So many smiles and so much laughter. All the students and adults had the best time.

The Heart of Frenship is truly an event of teamwork among the FHS community. The FHS culinary always provides the best food, FHS floral created a balloon arch, and FHS photography made the students feel like celebrities all day. The theater department did hair and makeup and all the special education teachers and staff helped get everyone dressed and prom ready. About 30 FHS students stayed after school the day before and helped decorate and made the entire place look amazing.

Frenship believes it is important to allow the students a place to feel safe, and comfortable and still have a prom. Some of the students have sensory sensitivity, so knowing the lights will be on, and strobe or twinkle lights and music won’t be too loud helps them feel comfortable. They are surrounded by their peers and it’s during the day, so they get a day that is all about them.

“All the students were dancing and hanging out and having the best time,” said Kayci Smith, Special Education Chair at FHS. “It’s just one big group of students truly having the best time. It’s unbelievable and truly makes you feel like there is no better place than FHS.”
