Frenship High School Student Council Mentor Willow Bend Student Council

Every year for the last five years, the high school student council prepares a presentation and activities for the Willow Bend student council. This meeting is geared toward showing the young leaders the positive impact student council can have on their campus. They discuss their individual jobs and committees, as well as their role in organizing events on campus.

Seeing the high school student council is inspiring for the elementary team as they can be in their shoes one day. This meeting engages the elementary students to get them thing about joining student council in high school.

“We really appreciate their time and leadership,” said Elisa Gonzales, student council advisor at Willow Bend. “It's always an event the kids talk about once they leave.”

During the mentor session, the elementary students have the opportunity to see the activities the high school team has done since they are going to be doing the same things, just on a smaller scale. The conversation also helps the Willow Bend student council brainstorm activities that they can do during the school year.

In the past, the high school has invited Willow Bend to join them for the Good Sportsmanship Exchange at home football games. They also collected school supplies and donated them to Willow Bend to help with their student council activities.
