On October 7 at 2:00 p.m. the Tigers will take on San Angelo Central in San Angelo for their shot to win the District 2-6A Championship.
So far, the Tigers have gone 4-0 in district play, setting them up for the opportunity to win the District Championship. There are 19 total matches to be played. The team will start each match with doubles play and then go into singles. The first team to win ten matches will win the overall match.
According to Shelby May, Assistant Tennis Coach, "This match is important for us because there is school and program history on the line. Frenship has not ever won district at the 6A level and this is an opportunity to write our own page in school history."
To prepare, Head Coach, Chris Wiles, and Assistant Coach, Shelby May, are putting together practice plans that focus on team goals that engage the team in a fun, dynamic, and competitive manner.
The coaching staff is also working to inspire their students to think about the legacy that winning district for the first time in 6A could leave, not only for the seniors on our team, but also for future Tigers who have the dream of winning championships for their school, community and their teammates.
"Our student-athletes are excited and as a staff, we are excited for all that our team can achieve. We are ready to continue to work hard and see what results we will achieve," said May.
