Frenship Volleyball Wraps Up 2022 Season

In what would end up being their final match of the season, the Tigers traveled to For Stockton to compete in the Bi-District round of the UIL Class 6A Playoffs against the El Paso Eastwood Troopers. The Tigers went 1-3 against the Troopers, winning the third set and making a strong showing in the fourth set.

While the Tigers' playoff run was cut short, Head Volleyball Coach, Toree Winchell shared that the team worked together to overcome challenges throughout the season.

Winchell said, “this team overall was a group of girls that stuck together through thick and thin. There were lots of trials and adversities that these girls faced, and through it all, they gelled with each other, and brought the best out of each other.”

The senior Tigers were key in providing leadership for the team.

“They did a really great job of combining volleyball skill with their leadership mentality that kept the girls together and fighting through a tough season and district,” said Winchell.

One of the most memorable games for the Tigers was beating a talented Midland Legacy team at home. The Tigers defeated the Rebels in a reverse sweep – they lost the first two sets, but then came roaring back to win the final three sets.

“It was a really big moment for us that got our momentum going in the right direction,” said Winchell.

Winchell shared that their senior night game was also a special match for the team. On senior night, the younger team members wrote letters to the seniors about the impact they made on the team and the program.

“The tears and emotions on nights like that stick with me from year to year,” said Winchell.

Undoubtedly, those special memories will also stick with the members of the team for years to come. Congratulations to the Tigers on a hard-fought season.
