Frenship High School Band Competes at State Championships

The students did an amazing job representing the Frenship school and community. The band performed their show entitled, “The Lightning Field,” and the band received the highest scores Frenship has ever received at the 6A contest. It is an amazing honor to advance from “Area A” and march with the top 42 bands out of the 249 - 6A bands from Texas!

'The Lightning Field’ is based on an immersive land art installation by the American sculptor, Walter De Maria, located in a remote area of the high desert of western New Mexico. The installation was represented in the show with lightning rods placed on the football field. The music selections included, “Mother of All Sources” by Tangerine Dream, “The Lightning Strike” by Snow Patrol, “Eleven” by yMusic, “Thunderclouds” by Sia, and “Ride the Lightning” by Metallica.”

“The directors are so proud of what our students have accomplished this year and are extremely excited about next season’s competitive marching season,” said Frenship ISD Director of Bands, Dr. Ryan Smith. “The success of this year is attributed to our 52 seniors and their dedicated work these past 4 years. The future is bright because of their leadership and service to the Frenship band!”
