Frenship High School Softball Celebrates Senior Night with Win, Move to First in District

Frenship vs Odessa Permian

On April 14, the Tigers dominated their matchup against the Odessa Permian Panthers. Overall, the Tigers combined for 14 hits, 14 RBI and four long balls to secure the 14-1-win against the Panthers and to claim the top spot once again in District rankings.

Makayla “MK” Garcia and Ava Ramirez lead the charge for the Tigers, both going three for four at the plate. It was the 5th inning that would help seal the deal for the Tigers. Makayla Garcia, Emma Peeples, and Ava Garcia each had an RBI in the Tigers five run inning.

Once again, Lexi Clark was untouchable in the circle for the Tigers. Clark threw a complete game, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out 10.  Clark was not only in command of the circle, but also recorded one of the Tigers’ four home runs. Ava Garcia, Peeples, and MK Garcia would each record a home run in Friday night's win.

With the win, the Tigers not only improved to 19-11 on the season and 6-2 in District play but secured a spot in the playoffs.

Frenship vs Odessa High Bronchos

It was another shutout victory for the Tigers on April 18th as the Tigers celebrated Senior Night. The Tigers started the night off with a run in the 1st inning of the bat of Jillian Franco. Makayla Garcia kept the momentum going with a three-run home run in the bottom of the 2nd.

Sophomore Ava Garcia sent a missile out of the park in the 4th inning to help the Tigers seal the deal. The Tigers scored eight runs on 11 hits with four Tigers recording a multiple hit game.

It was another dominating night in the circle for Lexi Clark. The fireballer hit double digit strike outs for the 3rd game in a row, striking out 11 Bronchos. Clark held Odessa High to only one hit in the 8-0 victory.

The Tigers are on the road Friday night to face the San Angelo Central Bobcats to finish district play. The win Tuesday night brings the Tigers to 20-11 overall and 7-2 in District 2-6A.
