Frenship High School Theatre Department Excels Across the Board

On Thursday, Frenship High School’s One Act Play competed in the Regional Competition in Prosper, TX. Frenship took first place in the Regional Competition.  

Students performed Sweet Nothing in my Ear, a play that uses a blend of spoken English and American Sign Language.   

Individual awards were presented to: 

  • Sydnie Nabonne, All Star Crew 
  • Jadia Christy, Honorable Mention 
  • Taylor Stephens, All Star Cast 
  • Bree Burchett, All Star Cast 

The One Act Play students will advance to State, in Round Rock on May 6th.  

A public performance of Sweet Nothing in my Ear will be held on Monday, April 24, at Frenship High School’s Performing Arts Center. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. and is free to the public.   

In addition to excelling at Regionals, the Theatre Department received several nominations from Broadway Dallas.  

Nominations include:  

  • Outstanding Lead Performer - Katelyn Quintanilla for Sweeney Todd 
  • Outstanding Direction - Big Fish 
  • Outstanding Ensemble - Sweeney Todd 
  • Outstanding Choreography - Big Fish 
  • Outstanding Music Direction - Abi Mills for Sweeney Todd 
  • Outstanding Featured Performer - Ashleah Edwards for Sweeney Todd 

The Broadway Dallas High School Music Theatre Awards are designed to inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theater, and to recognize the importance of musical theater and arts education. Students and educators are recognized with an annual awards ceremony modeled after the Tony Awards® and include both performance and production categories.
