Frenship High School Student Wins First Place at Academic UIL Competition

Katherine Dyal, a Frenship High School junior, has excelled in the Academic UIL District, Regional, and State competitions.

Dyal was named the first-place winner at the Academic UIL State Competition in the Copy Editing category for the 6A division.

Copy Editing teaches students the vital skills of proof-reading and editing to create accurate, clear, and succinct writing. Emphasis is placed on the ability to find and correct grammatical, spelling, punctuation, AP style, and factual errors.

Trista Presley, Frenship High School UIL coach says that Dyal has worked extremely hard and is well deserving of this accomplishment. “In the 13 years I have been involved with Academic UIL there has not been anyone get 1st place at state,” said Presley.

Although this is Dyal’s second year competing in Academic UIL, she has already paved a way of inspiration for future students.

“Katherine is a very bright, determined young lady. She has been studying and preparing for this competition since last year. She competed in the competition for the first-time last year as a sophomore. She puts a lot of time and effort into excelling at everything she does,” said Presley.

Congratulations Katherine Dyal, Frenship ISD is proud of your accomplishment!
