The Frenship Marching Band continues to excel at competitions, after securing their 25th consecutive Grand Champion title at the West Texas Auxiliary Championship, the band traveled to Midland to make school history.
The band competed against 21 bands across Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma at the Bands of America West Texas Regional Championship. The Bands of America’s (BOA) is a part of the Music for All educational organization that has been providing educational and performance programs and events for school music programs since it was founded.
The BOA marching band championships are the premier events for marching bands in the nation. The BOA’s marching band shows offer positively life-changing experiences for the students, teachers, and parents of the bands who participate, as well as fans and spectators.
The Frenship Marching Band performed their 2023 marching production entitled “KEYS”. The production is based on the famous classical piano works of Beethoven, Mozart, Pachelbel, and Strauss.
The Frenship Band has been competing in the BOA Regional Championship for several years but made history last weekend by advancing to the BOA Finals for the first time. “We were excited for our students to be amongst the top 12 finalist bands and have the experience of a performance at that level,” stated Scott Carter, Frenship High School Band Director. In the end, the Frenship Band took home the 9th place trophy.
“Competing at a BOA event is a grueling endeavor and makes for a long day with multiple performances,” stated Carter. “We are so proud of our band students for being resilient. They kept bringing their performance to the next level each time they took the field.”
Up next for the Frenship Marching Band is to compete in the Westerner Marching Festival on Saturday, October 7. The competition will take place at Lowrey Field.
