Cross Country Places Second at District Meet

Bright and early on Thursday morning, the Cross Country team walked into the green room before getting on the road for the meet and saw a pleasant surprise. The room was decorated with several posters, streamers, balloons, and banners all wishing the team the best of luck at the District meet. I guess you could say the encouragement worked, because the Tigers finished in 2nd place overall qualifying the team for Regionals.

Both the Boys and Girls team finished in 2nd place. Blake Morrison was named the Varsity Boys District Champion coming in 1st place and Zyla Deshon is the Varsity Girls runner-up.

For the Varsity Boys, Cade Franklin finished in 8th Place and Brett Cram came in 10th place at the District meet. For the Varsity Girls Division, Lauren Griffin came in 8th place.

The Boys JV team was named District Champions. Jacob Murray came in 4th place. Josiah Nguyen finished in 5th place. Donovan Martinez crossed the line in 6th place and Yoel Favela was right behind in 7th place.

The Girls JV team was named District Runner-Up. Giselle Cisneros came in 3rd place. Tera Chanez finished in 6th place. Dakota Duncan traveled right behind in 7th place. Dulce Acosta came in 9th place.

Betzi Favela finished in 10th place. All top ten runners in both the Boys and Girls division were medalists.

“I’m happy and proud to have a great season, I’m looking forward to Regionals on Tuesday, October 24 at Mae Simmons,” said Head Cross Country Coach, Jeff Bigham.

Good luck, Tiger Cross Country!
