Tiger Powerlifting Team Prepares for Frenship Tiger Invitational

The Tigers traveled to Dimmit last week for the Dimmit Invitational. A total of 9 athletes placed individually at the meet. Both the Boys and Girls teams finished 9th overall at the competition.

For the Boys, Isaiah Gomez finished in 6th place, Christian Flores and Justice John finished in 5th place, and freshman Bryson Salas came in 2nd place in his weight class.

For the Girls, Jaydon Ukelegharanya finished in 4th place, Keagen Blakely finished in 5th place, and Hannah Escobedo and Bree Bierbaum finished in 6th place.

Head Powerlifting Coach, Dusty Robinson does a good job of reminding the athletes that their hard work does not go unnoticed.

“This sport instills a great deal of commitment, discipline, and determination on behalf of the students,” said Coach Robinson. “I always tell them ‘the weights don't lie.’ If you are putting the work in, you will excel.”

This Saturday, January 27, is the 2nd annual Frenship Tiger Invitational. The meet is at Frenship’s Ninth Grade Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. There will be over 300 lifters with 80 of those being Tigers.

Coach Robinson wants to thank everyone who has helped prepare for this event and who will help facilitate during the invitational.

“We could not host such an event without all the volunteers who are helping.  I am blessed to have a great support group behind the scenes helping.  I could not do it without them,” said Coach Robinson.

Please note that there will be an admission fee of $3.00 for adults at the gate. Children 10 and under will get in free.

Best of luck, Tigers!
