Heather Byars, the Speech and Debate Coach, expressed pride in her team's performance, stating, "This has been a great year of growth for our team as they have tried so many new things. We are more determined than ever to work harder and dig deeper so that we can go even farther next year."

Among the standout performances were those of Liam Byars and Alex Serralde, Kendall Rigney and Drasti Patel, Mallory Winnett, Danielle Duff, Annela Camus, and Chinecherem Ukelegharanya.

In Duo Performance, Liam Byars and Alex Serralde, along with Kendall Rigney and Drasti Patel, showcased their talent. Mallory Winnett, Kendall Rigney, and Danielle Duff captured the audience with their Informative Speaking. Annela Camus demonstrated her versatility by competing in both Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation. Additionally, Chinecherem Ukelegharanya took on the challenge of both Informative Speaking and International Extemporaneous Speaking.

The team brought home several accolades, with Kendall Rigney and Drasti Patel's Duo making it to the final round and securing sixth place. Wrapping up, Kendall Rigney's Informative Speech made it into the finals and secured the fourth position.

While the team narrowly missed out on securing spots for the National Tournament, their performances ensured that each competitor finished in the top half among all participants. Looking ahead, the team is gearing up for the upcoming Texas Forensic Association (TFA) State competition scheduled in Houston from May 6-9. They will also participate in the UIL District on April 5 at the University of Texas Permian Basin.

Good luck to these students!
