Girls Soccer Team Scores Double Victories against Odessa High and Odessa Permian

Lauren Denning, Head Girls Soccer Coach is happy with the team’s persistent hard work this season, she is especially proud of how they played against both Odessa Permian and Odessa High.

“We had two really solid team games against Permian and Odessa,” said Coach Denning. “Playing everyone the second time around during district is sometimes hard. It’s difficult to beat teams twice in the same year, but I challenged the girls to do just that, and they responded.”

The Tigers dominated Odessa High and Odessa Permian last Friday, March 1. The Tigers defeated the Permian Panthers, 6-1 with goals scored by Zeta McDannels (3), Lily Stone (2), and Graham Peeples. There were 6 assists by Baye Biddix (3), Graham (2), and Zeta McDannels.

“We started a little slow during the Permian game but jumped on them quickly in the 2nd half and did not look back. Defense stepped up after an early mistake and did not allow them any more looks at the goal,” said Coach Denning.

The Tigers took down the Odessa Bronchos, this past Tuesday evening, 5-0. Goals were scored by Mia Chambliss (3), Zeta McDannels, and Jade Reyes with assists from Zeta McDannels, Biddix, Jade Reyes, and Mia Chambliss.

“The Odessa game was our best start of district, and we stayed solid the rest of the game. Before the game, we knew that a win would clinch the District Championship for us. Knowing that was the extra boost my girls needed to put together a completely dominant game,” said Coach Denning.

Tonight, the Girls Soccer Team will be honoring graduating seniors before the  match against San Angelo Central. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Tiger Soccer Pitch.
