Frenship Boys Golf Tees Off for Success

The Frenship Boys Golf Teams are mastering the green. The Varsity Blue and Gold Tigers competed in the San Angelo Boys Classic at the Bentwood Country Club and the San Angelo Country Club on March 8 through 9. The Blue Team finished in a tie for 5th place and the Gold Team finished in 8th place. Senior Hunter Welch led the way firing a 78-78- 156, landing him in a tie for 8th place.  

Right after the Spring Break holiday ended, the Blue and Gold teams competed on March 18 in the 5A Preview, a 36-hole, one-day tournament at Hillcrest Country Club. The Blue Team shot a 312-300-612 coming in 2nd place amongst the other 5A schools throughout Region 1. The Gold Team shot a 339-321-660 total. Once again, Hunter Welch represented Frenship well and led all players with a 71-70-141 (3-under par) day in the grueling 36-hole tournament. 

The momentum for Boys Golf hasn’t slowed down. On Tuesday, March 19 the JV White Team traveled to Amarillo for the Amarillo JV Invitational. The Tigers placed 2nd out of 9 teams firing a 337. The team was led by Camden Reese- 81, Jackson Bonnett- 83, Nic Hernandez- 85, John Whitfield- 88, and Jaxson Bailey- 89.   

Up next, the Tigers Blue and Gold Teams are competing in the District 2-6A Preview on March 27 at the Odessa Country Club.
