FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and is the only career and technical in-school student organization with family as the central focus. Frenship's FCCLA’s main purpose is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
Frenship had three students qualify for the State FCCLA Competition this year. Abby Cluff competed in Early Childhood Education, Chloe Lester competed in Nutrition and Wellness, and Alison Abston competed in Interior Design.
This year's State contest was very competitive. Each student competed against the top 20-25 competitors in the state.
While the Frenship team did not place in the top five, they gained a wealth of knowledge throughout the competition. Cassandra Duran, the FHS FCCLA sponsor, stated that FCCLA not only enables students to see the real-world application of their studies but also allows them to see if this is a career they would indeed like to pursue in college.
“I am very proud of each of these young ladies,” said Duran. “They worked diligently over the past 6 months to complete their separate projects. I could not have asked for a better group of students to represent FCCLA and Frenship this year. We will take all that we have learned during our competitions this year and return next year to win at State.”
The Frenship Team brought some lasting relationships and learned about leadership opportunities through FCCLA within the school and state.
