Frenship Health Science Students Celebrate at Pinning Ceremony

The Health Science Pinning Ceremony is a cherished tradition that symbolizes the transition of students into the healthcare profession. It is a momentous occasion where students are recognized for their hard work and dedication in earning certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMAs), or Pharmacy Technicians.

The tradition of pinning dates back to the 1860s when Florence Nightingale was awarded the Red Cross of St. George for her selfless efforts in caring for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Since then, the pinning ceremony has become a symbol of honor and a rite of passage for healthcare professionals worldwide.

“As instructors who are also nurses, we wanted to bring this nursing tradition to all of our Health Practicum Students who are now ready to begin their career in the Health Care field,” said Melissa Rose, Frenship High School CNA Program Director.

This year, the pinning ceremony took place on Sunday, May 5th, in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). The Frenship Health Science teaching staff was proud to pin 29 CNAs, 10 Pharmacy Technicians, and 17 CCMAs, all of whom have completed rigorous training and demonstrated exceptional skills in their respective fields.

For these students, the pinning ceremony marks the beginning of their professional journey in healthcare. It signifies their commitment to providing quality care and serving their communities with compassion and integrity. Additionally, the pinning ceremony serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being a healthcare professional and the impact they can make in the lives of others.

Rose said the entire health sciences staff at FHS is proud of all the students. “We have had the privilege of watching them grow and develop into competent and compassionate healthcare professionals, ready to embark on their careers. We have no doubt that they will continue to excel and make a difference in the lives of those they serve.”

As these students move one step closer to achieving their goals, Frenship ISD diligently works to prepare them for continued education in their specified fields and to provide a base of knowledge for future careers.

Rose and the rest of the Health Science teachers at FHS offered this parting remark to the future healthcare professionals.

“To our students, your dedication and hard work have paid off, and we are confident that you will achieve great success in your future endeavors,’ said Rose. “We are honored to have been a part of your journey and look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish in the field of healthcare.”
