Two Frenship Students Participate in Technology Industry Program

FHS seniors Kathleen Jurecka and Kaden Eleuterius were accepted to participate in the X-Fab SEMI High Tech U program last week at X-Fab Texas and Texas Tech University.

According to their website, High Tech U (HTU) is a three-day program for high school students who want to know more about careers in the tech industry. Students put science, engineering, technology, and math (STEM) skills to use during hands-on workshops led by industry volunteers.

This year's workshops included sessions on microchips and solar chips, chemistry, interview techniques, interactive lessons, and a tour of the Texas Tech Engineering facilities.

In addition to participating in the program, Kathleen Jurecka Received the Semi-High Tech $1000 scholarship given to the most outstanding participant in the program.

"SEMI High Tech U helped me understand which discipline of engineering I want to pursue in the future," said Jurecka.
