Frenship High School student, Caitlin Do, was recognized at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the 2018 Outstanding Youth. The award honors an individual or group of young people who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the community through direct financial support, development of charitable programs, volunteering and leadership in philanthropy.

Caitlin, a senior at FHS, knows what it takes to fill big shoes. In 2018, Caitlin served on the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest Red Shoe Crew of the Red Shoe Shindig. The Shindig is an annual fundraising event which assists in providing funding for programs such as, The Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Caitlin, along with the other Red Shoe Crew members, raised $82,318.72 and Caitlin alone raised $41,830.

As the youngest member ever of the Red Shoe Crew, she was creative in her fundraising efforts, hosting dinners and asking for donations. With an original goal of $30,000, Caitlin bypassed the suggested goal of $5,000, setting her sights on a bigger vision. She came up with the $30,000 goal to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. Once Caitlin bypassed that goal, she kept going and raised her goal to $40,000. She thanked every single donor in her efforts to assist families and children who are critically ill or injured. Caitlin’s extraordinary efforts have gone to show the power of “thank you” goes a long way.

Caitlyn was nominated by Dina Jeffries, Ronald McDonald House of Charities of the Southwest. She was honored at a luncheon on November 15.
