Academic Decathlon

Challenge your mind. Discover your strengths. Join the team.

Academic Decathlon is one of the premier academic competitions in the nation, and we're proud to offer students at Frenship High the opportunity to be part of this intellectually exciting experience. It’s more than just a competition, it’s a journey of academic growth, team-building, and personal development.

Each year, the United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) announces a new theme; this year’s theme is The Roaring Twenties. Based on that theme, students prepare for rigorous exams in ten different subject areas, including:

  • Art

  • Economics

  • Literature

  • Mathematics

  • Music

  • Science

  • Social Science

  • Speech

  • Interview

  • Essay

Whether you're a top GPA student or someone who simply loves to learn, Academic Decathlon is for everyone. The competition is divided into three divisions: Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity; so students compete with peers of similar academic standing.

If you're interested in joining or learning more about Academic Decathlon, contact William Graue at [email protected] or Rebekah Folse at [email protected] or stop by Room CT18 or 1218. Studying is currently underway and we continue to prepare throughout the year for local competitions this Fall and regional, state, and maybe nationals in the Spring.
