Jay Northcutt is in his 26th year of coaching and just finished his 8th season as Head Football Coach for the Frenship Tigers. Coach Northcutt is a graduate of Plainview High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University. Over the last three seasons the Tigers have averaged 9 plus wins a year and had three straight years of playoff victories. In 2024 the Tigers won the team’s first outright 6A District Championship, sweeping District 2-6A. Coach Northcutt was named 2024 THSCA 6A Region 1 Coach of the Year, and his staff was selected as the District 2-6A Staff of the Year. In the last three seasons, Frenship has produced one of the top offenses in the state of Texas averaging 53 points per game, ranking them as the state’s 3rd highest scoring offense in 6A. In addition, for the past two seasons Frenship was the state’s leading passing offense throwing for over 9,000 yards over the last two years. Coach Northcutt and his wife, Holly, have been married for 22 years. They have two daughters Addison and Brooke who will both be attending Texas Tech University this Fall.
