Frenship Baseball Wins Second Series in District Play

Midland High Game 1: Tigers Win

An early lead helped the Tigers Varsity defeat Midland High 15-7 on Thursday.

The Tigers scored on a double by Ethan Curbo in the first inning and took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning. Carson Heise singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Brady Boles grounded out, scoring one run. Hudson Hutcheson singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Blaine Chancy singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Nano Mendoza, scoring one run.

Nick Blevins was credited with the victory. The righthander surrendered seven runs on 10 hits over six innings, striking out five. Boles threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Landon Hutcheson, Hudson Hutcheson, Mendoza, and Holden Phillips all managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Frenship tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases including Julian Mirabal.

Midland High Game 2: Midland Wins

Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, Midland High was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Frenship on Friday. Ryland Morin started the game for Frenship and recorded 18 outs. The pitcher went six innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 11. 

The Tigers lost despite out-hitting Midland five to two. One bright spot for Frenship was a single by Landon Hutcheson in the first inning.

Blaine Chancy, Hudson Hutcheson, Landon Hutcheson, Carson Heise, and Nano Mendoza each collected one hit to lead Frenship.

Midland High Game 3: Tigers Win

Brooks Roberson had all the right stuff on Saturday for the Tigers, allowing zero runs and besting Midland High by a score of 4-0.

The Tigers got things started in the first inning. Ethan Curbo lined out, scoring one run. The Tigers put up three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by singles by Curbo and Blaine Chancy. Brady Boles led Frenship with two hits in four at bats. Frenship didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hudson Hutcheson had 10 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Lubbock-Cooper Game: Tigers Win

The Tigers defeated the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates 4-2 this past Wednesday. The Tigers pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth, Brooks Roberson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Zane Cobb was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero.  Braxton Neel and Weston Reynolds entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Blaine Chancy, Ethan Curbo, Landon Hutcheson, and Roberson each managed one hit to lead Frenship.
