This month's Mental Health Minute focuses on the theme of connection. As part of the Frenship ISD Strategic Plan Initiative, the Mental Health Minute seeks to promote awareness of mental health and wellness across the district.

Frenship High School senior and trombone player Lula Biondi has been selected for the national S.E. Shires Rising Artist Program, becoming the only high school student in the nation chosen for the honor. Through this two-year program, Biondi will have opportunities to learn from world-renowned brass musicians, receive mentorship, and continue pursuing her goal of performing in a major symphony orchestra.

Frenship ISD will be represented on the national stage this week as students and educators from both Frenship High School and Memorial High School receive some of the highest honors awarded by the National FFA Organization during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Frenship ISD’s Director of Finance Hunter LoCascio has been named one of Lubbock’s Top 20 Under 40, an honor recognizing young professionals who demonstrate outstanding leadership in their careers and make a positive impact on the Lubbock community.

The Iron Tigers Robotics Team #5866 at Frenship High School is collecting new stuffed animals to bring comfort to children receiving surgical care at University Medical Center.

Over the weekend, the Frenship High School Tiger Band and the Memorial High School Panther Band competed in the UIL Region Marching Contest on Saturday, October 17, at Lowrey Field, earning Superior ratings and advancing to the UIL 5A Area A Marching Contest.

Earlier this month, nine students from the Frenship High School and Memorial High School orchestra programs were selected for the All-Region Orchestra. Two Frenship High School seniors and seven Memorial High School students earned spots in the Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras, showcasing their musical talent and dedication.

The Frenship High School Varsity Madrigals Choir performed the Star-Spangled Banner at the South Plains Honor Flight kickoff luncheon, honoring local veterans for their service and sacrifice.

The Frenship Tiger Band and Memorial Panther Band competed in the Bands of America West Texas Regional Championship, earning 8th and 12th place, respectively. Both bands showcased their 2026 marching productions at the competition sponsored by Music for All, an organization dedicated to advancing music and arts education nationwide.

For the first time ever, the Frenship Tigers and Memorial Panthers will meet on the football field in the inaugural Big Cat Classic on October 16. Named by students from the Big Cat Council, the game marks the beginning of a new Frenship tradition.
