Frenship High School

New Assistant Principal joins Frenship High School

Shannon Merritt may be new to Frenship, but she is not new to Lubbock. Merritt is a proud Texas Tech graduate. She has spent 14 years in education, 8 as a teacher and 6 as an assistant principal.

Merritt moved from Midland where she taught at Legacy High School, and Trinity School of Midland, and served as an assistant principal at Greenwood High School.

With a background built upon strong leadership skills, Merritt is thrilled to join the Frenship Family and continue developing our goal of seeking perfection and capturing excellence.

“Frenship has the small town feel with big city opportunities. There is a reputation here for loving students well and pushing students to be the best they can be in all facets of their lives,” said Merritt. “This is evident in the high success rate of the students in and out of the classroom. Frenship deeply cares about the students and the staff, and I am so proud to be a Tiger.”

One area where she is looking forward to is growing alongside the Frenship High School administration team.

“I am most excited to grow and learn with my new team. They each have a vast knowledge of experience and will bring new perspectives,” said Merritt.

She and her husband, Landon, have been married for 19 years. They have two children, Grayson and Briston, who both attend Heritage Middle School.

Welcome to the Frenship Family, Shannon Merritt, we are excited to have you!
