Tigers Beat San Angelo Central and Advance to the Playoffs

The Tigers have earned their spot in the playoffs after a District season of 8-2. Head Football Coach Jay Northcutt can’t express how proud he is of the team and how hard they’ve worked this season.

“Words can’t describe how proud I am, especially because District 2 6-A is so competitive. That was shown as we faced San Angelo Central. They’ve been putting up points all year long, and we knew they were going to be dangerous for us to face. We had our backs against the wall coming out of that second week knowing that we needed to win the last three, "said Coach Northcutt. “The team finally found a way to get it done playing some really close games. I think that just shows the resilience of these guys and the culture that we’ve created at Frenship.”

Wide Receiver, Leyton Stone, broke a school record during Friday’s game. After receiving four touchdowns during the game, it gave him a record of 32 career touchdowns, surpassing Frenship legend David Thomas.

“He really showed why he's special, especially that last catch that he made even though it looked like it was going to be way over his head, he got it. He’s just a special kid that keeps on getting better and I think that the sky is the limit for him,” said Coach Northcutt.

The Tigers are on the road today traveling to El Paso for their first game in the Playoffs against El Paso Eastwood. The game starts at 6:00 p.m. MST, and 7:00 p.m. CST, at Trooper Stadium. For away stadium guidelines, CLICK HERE.
