Frenship High School

Girls Soccer Leads Scoreboard in District 2-6A Competition

The Girls Soccer team has dominated the field yet again. The Tigers faced the San Angelo last week, defeating the Bobcats 1-0. Frenship’s goal was scored by Mia Chambliss as a penalty kick. Lauren Denning, Head Girls Soccer Coach, is happy with the Tigers commitment to the game.

“Friday was a big result for us. We wanted to finish the first half of District undefeated and in sole possession of first place and we accomplished that,” said Coach Denning. “Central is always a very disciplined team and this year is no different. They were athletic and tough to break down, but our girls did really well keeping their composure and fighting through to play our style and game.”

Coach Denning values teamwork and is pleased with how everyone on the team stepped up to help secure the win.

“We had several chances and finally found the back of the net in the 2nd half off of a great effort from Allie Hinojosa to draw a penalty in the box. Mia stepped up and delivered a great strike,” said Coach Denning. “Our defense stepped up all game and denied them from having dangerous opportunities. Overall, I was happy with the performance and excited about how we look going forward. Ready to finish off District!”

Tonight, February 23, the Tigers are facing Midland Legacy at 5:30 p.m. at the Tiger Soccer Pitch. The team wants to honor those who pour into them in the classroom, by recognizing educators. Before the game begins, the teachers invited by the players will be honored on the field.

Awesome work, Tigers!
