Frenship Football Wraps Up Season

The Frenship Football team had a great season. The Tigers had their first 10-win season since 2013, and first outright District Championship since 2014. Head Football Coach Jay Northcutt contributes a lot of success to the 2025 Senior Class.

“We had an outstanding season! This was an outstanding group of young men,” said Coach Northcutt. “We graduated 47 seniors, who made a huge contribution to the chemistry and culture of our program. Many were three-year starters who helped achieve 28 wins over the last three seasons, two District Championships, and three playoff victories.”

When looking back on the season, Coach Northcutt is happy with every win the Tigers walked away with, even the close-scoring games.

“What stood out was the way these guys consistently found ways to win close ball games. They had a great next-play mentality and always looked to continue to put themselves in a position to have success,” said Northcutt.  Throughout the season the team grew and improved in several different ways.

“This team had a very high standard for their daily habits in going through the process of preparation each week, which allowed us to continue to get better with each week,” said Northcutt. “This also allowed them to not get tight in close games and to play loose and play to win.”

One component Coach Northcutt wants to continue to form within the team is strong friendships and comradery.

“We want to continue to build off the winning season with our culture and chemistry, which we feel is the most important part of our program. This year's team will leave a lasting legacy that we will see reflections of for years to come,” said Coach Northcutt.

There were numerous milestones and records broken this past season by the Frenship Football Team, a few of those include:

  • 10 Win Season, nine points away from being undefeated in the season
  • Undefeated in District (outright 2-6A District Championship)
  • Top 5 Offense in Texas
  • Quarterback, Holden Phillips is the #1 Quarterback in Texas with over 4,000 yards. He is also nationally ranked in the Top 20 Quarterbacks and is #1 in Texas for touchdowns with 57.
  • Wide Receivers, Leyton Stone and Chase Campbell made the Top 10 WR in Texas.

Coach Northcutt had many standout season memories but one of his favorites was during the Midland High game.

“I have many favorite memories but one that stands out was our very close victory in our first district game over Midland, throwing a wedge pass to Chase Campbell to take the lead, and then Hunter Hicks stopping a Bulldog reverse to help seal the victory!”

Great work, Frenship Football! We enjoyed cheering you on this season.
