A Lubbock native with a lifelong passion for dance, Madelynn Thomasson brings experience as a dance educator, choreographer, and youth mentor. She is committed to helping students grow both on and off the performance floor while building a positive and successful Pom program.
Thomasson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from West Texas A&M University after graduating from Lubbock-Cooper High School, where she was a founding member of the school's Pom team. She has experience teaching dance in both academic and community settings, including as a Dance Teacher at Dunbar College Preparatory Academy, Horizon School of the Arts, and Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Camp. In addition to her teaching experience, Thomasson spent more than five years serving as a youth program manager, developing leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while working with children.
For Thomasson, joining Frenship was an opportunity to combine her passion for dance, education, and coaching.
"Frenship felt like the perfect opportunity to combine my love for dance, teaching, and coaching," said Thomasson. "I'm so excited to serve as the Varsity Pom Coach and teach dance at the high school level."
As she prepares for her first year leading the Frenship High School Pom program, Welch is looking forward to investing in her students and continuing to grow the dance program.
"I'm most excited to build relationships with my students and Pom team, continue growing the dance program, and see everything my dancers accomplish both in the classroom and through performances," said Thomasson. "I can't wait for football season, competition season, and all of the memories we'll make along the way."
Outside of the classroom, Thomasson enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and their daughter, Caroline Kate. She is excited to become part of the Frenship community and begin this new chapter.
"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and can't wait for an amazing year," said Thomasson. "Go Tigers!"
Congratulations on your new role, Coach Thomasson! We are excited to welcome you to the Frenship Family and look forward to the future of Frenship High School Pom under your leadership.
