Frenship Girls Golf Wraps Up Season at Regional Tournament

The Frenship Tiger Girls Golf Team traveled to the Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie last week to compete in the 6A Region 1 Regional Tournament. The Tigers shot a 2-day total of 669 to finish 10th place.  Although they will not be advancing to State, Girls Head Golf Coach Roger Whipkey shared that he was more than pleased with their effort.

"6A Region 1 is the toughest in the state,” said Coach Whipkey. “The three teams that advance usually do really well in the state tournament so I knew it would be an uphill battle, but I was impressed at how well the girls competed on a very tough hilly course and humid environment that we aren't used to.”

Coach Whipkey shares that this team will go down in history as one of the most memorable.

“In fact, I think that we played our best 2 rounds of the year, and I couldn't be more proud of them and what they accomplished this year.  This is definitely one of the best teams I have had in my 16 years as the head coach,” said Coach Whipkey.

At Regionals, Kara Knight shot (80,79) to lead the way for the Tigers.  Dayna Keeling (87,81), Brylee Kinman (85,84), Melanie Jones (83,90), and Kenley Baker (87,95) round out the rest of the team scores.

Great season, Tigers! We are proud of your hard work!
