Hola, my name is Alejandro Garcia. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Estacado High School. With no resources to go to college, I joined the USMC in order to utilize the Montgomery GI Bill to go to college. I got married six months after I was discharged and was accepted into Local 629 Plumbing Apprenticeship Program and worked 21 years in the field. I went on to go work for the Department of Defense as a plumber at Reese Air Force Base and Shepperd Air Force Base. During this time I went to Wayland Baptist University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Occupational Education. This lead me to work as the Training Coordinator for Local 389 Plumbers apprenticeship program. Then a door opened up and I accepted a position with the U. S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship. Seven years later I was recruited to become the Organizer for Northwest Texas Plumbers Local 404. I retired in 2016 and the Plumbing Technology at Frenship opened and here I am.
