I am so honored to be teaching at Frenship High School!  I am originally from Albuquerque, NM, and was educated at the University of New Mexico. I am currently earning my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech!
I enjoy reading, being outdoors and of course, teaching students! Texas CTE has some great definitions and outline for each of the classes I teach.  See below for a description and overview of what we will learn:

Career Prep:

Career Preparation provides opportunities for students to participate in a learning experience that combines classroom instruction with paid business and industry employment experiences and supports strong partnerships among school, business, and community stakeholders.

The practicum is designed to give students supervised practical application of previously studied knowledge and skills. Practicum experiences occur in a paid or unpaid arrangement and in a variety of instructional settings"

Advanced Marketing:

In Advanced Marketing, students will gain knowledge and skills that help them become proficient in one or more of the marketing functional areas. This course covers technology, communication, and customer-service skills.

Second year Advanced Marketing students will focus on project planning as well as business operations in depth.

Social Media Marketing:

Social Media Marketing is designed to look at the rise of social media and how marketers are integrating social media tools into their overall marketing strategy. The course will investigate how the marketing community measures success in the new world of social media. Students will manage a successful social media presence for an organization, understand techniques for gaining customer and consumer buy-in to achieve marketing goals, and properly select social media platforms to engage consumers and monitor and measure the results of these efforts.

Virtual Business

Course Description: Virtual Business is designed for students to start a virtual business by creating a web presence, conducting online and off-line marketing, examining contracts appropriate for an online business, and demonstrating project-management skills. Students will also demonstrate bookkeeping skills for a virtual business, maintain business records, and understand legal issues associated with a virtual

business.

Money Matters

In Money Matters, students will investigate money management from a personal financial perceptive. Students will apply critical-thinking skills to analyze financial options based on current and projected economic factors. Students will gain knowledge and skills necessary to establish short-term and long-term financial goals.

In addition to teaching business, marketing and finance classes, I am also one of the advisors for our school's DECA program.

DECA is a business club that teaches students leadership and how to adapt to real business situations.  We also participate in community service events and other social activities.  It is a great way to network with the business community and make new friends!
