What is the Focus Program?

The Focus program is designed to maximize student learning. Students in the Focus program build and practice the behavioral, functional, and academic skills needed to be successful in all school settings. Students work toward spending as much of their time in the general education setting as possible. We aim for each individual student to function successfully at their highest ability level and become healthy and productive citizens.

Focus Process

Focus provides a broad range of services based on the student’s needs.

More intensive services: The self-contained Focus setting provides a highly structured class for those needing more involved support and a smaller teacher to student ratio.

Less intensive services: Students requiring less support for behavior success may function well with behavior monitoring in their general education classes.

Students may receive a combination of Focus classroom support and monitoring in the general education settings. Amount and design of supports is individualized to meet each student’s needs.

Typically students begin with higher levels of support within the Focus classroom(s). As students build appropriate behavioral skills and experience success, they spend more time in the general education setting.
